Damaged school budding in B’la, posing threat to teachers, students

BARAMULLA: Two years on a school building in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district damaged due to landslides, still has not been cleared of the mess around and works carried for the repair the structure that is posing as threat for teaching staff as well as for the students of the school.
Local people said that, a building of government middle school Gulistan Bala in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district was damaged when a portion of landslides hit it after heavy snow fall in 2019. Later several officers of the education department and district administration visited the area and assured that they will clear the debris and will construct a new building at the place.
However, later all forget it resulting the students and teaching facing shortage of accommodation, with a new building being far and the remains off the damaged building yet not clear from the area posing treat to all including teachers and students at the school.
People said that the wood, GI roofing and other building material of the damaged building have been stolen also while some logs and tin sheets are still hanging a big threat for students and teaching staff of the school.
They added that when the building collapsed in 2019, the road link from Gulistan Payeen to Gulistan Bala was also damaged due to landslides and till date it has not repaired.
People appealed concern authorities to visit the area and took immediate steps so that people do not suffer..
