Prof Yousuf Memorial Cricket tournament: GDC Baramulla cruises into semis

SRINAGAR: Government Degree College Boys Baramulla Kashmir cruised into the semi finals with a comprehensive 77 run win over Institute of Technology Zakura Campus in the second quarter final of Prof Yousuf Memorial Cricket tournament on Wednesday at Islamia College ground here.
After winning the toss IOT Zakura captain invited Baramulla College to bat first and the team took full advantage of the average bowling and fielding of IOT team.
Baramulla batsmen piled up a huge score of 242 runs in 27 overs.
Tahir Showkat with brilliant 99 runs in 73 balls and Imran Nabi 44 in 28 balls were the main contributors of Baramulla College innings.
Sahil Majid and Owais Saba took two wickets each for IOT. Chasing a mammoth target of 243 runs IOT lost early wickets and were restricted to 165 runs only in 24.3 overs with 48 runs each by Saqib Reshii and Tasaduq as main run getter.
For Baramulla College Mehraj Manzoor and Zubair took three wickets each.
Tahir Showkat was adjuged the man of the match. On Thursday Gandhi Memorial College will play against GDC Pulwama in another quater final and GDC Anantnag will clash with GDC Bijbihara on Friday in last quarter final.
The tournament is being organized by department of physical education Islamia College in memory of ex principal of the college Prof. Mohammed Yousuf.
