Body of a woman fished out from Kangan power canal

Kangan: Body of a elderly woman was retrieved from a power canal in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday.
Officials said that the panic gripped a village in Kawcherwan Kangan in Ganderbal when some people saw a body floating in the canal Sunday afternoon.
They said Police were informed immediately, by locals after getting the information, a police party reached the spot and with the help of locals retrieved the body of the woman from canal.
They said the deceased has been identified as 55 year-old Boyei Begum, wife of Ab Rehman Sheikh, a resident of Syed Basti Sumbal Gund.
Officials said the body of the deceased was taken into possession and after completing on spot formalities it was shifted to SDH Kangan for autopsy.
The body was later handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
Police officials said that the cause of her death was being ascertained.
