Shopian: Burglars in Shopian town targeted a State Bank owned Automatic Teller Machine (ATM), decamping with more than 17 lakh of rupees, besides carrying thefts at two adjoining shops in the main town.
The incident according to sources took place on the intervening night of Sunday when the burglars looted Rs 17.65 lac from the ATM and broke into two nearby shops.
Local sources said that the ATM was found broken on Monday morning and so were the locks of both the shops.
Police sources said that a case under relevant sections has been lodged at police station Shopian and investigation has been started by the police.
They said that Rs 17.65 lac of cash in ATM and the items from two shops have been looted during the night.
