Women dies in Uri after delay in shifting her to hospital due to road blockade

Baramulla: A 25 year old woman lost her life because of a blocked road in border town Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
Local people of village Churanda along the Line Of Control in Uri alleged that a women Zareena Begum wife of Naseer Ahmad Dedar went sick on Wednesday evening, however the family could not shift her to nearby sub district hospital Uri, because the lone road link which connects Churanda village with Uri town has been block by landslides near the Kohli Nala for long.
They said on Thursday some people carried her on a charpoy along the treacherous route to sub district Uri, however she passed away on way.
People said that it happens only because the road link which connects the village with Uri town is blocked by landslides for a long time and the concerned authorities of PMGSY could not clear the road link.
Village head ChurandaLal-din-Ahmad confirmed that a sick lady died on the way to hospital when her family and other people were shifting her to Uri hospital. He said the Uri Churanda road is completely blocked almost from January after the first major snowfall and vehicles since then have not plied to the village.
An official in the administration also confirmed that the road which connects Churanda and Batgran villages to Uri town is blocked due to heavy landslides near Kohli Nala and efforts are on to restore the traffic movement, hope as the weather improves they will clear it for traffic.
Churanda and Batgran are the villages living along the LoC in Uri town around seven kilometres from the main town Uri, and there is a single road between Uri and Churanda, Batgran which mostly remain blocked in winter after landslides hit the road near Kohli Nala.
