Training workshop/awareness program regarding post harvest management of saffron and e-auctioning held at IIKSTC

Pampore: Agriculture Production & Farmer’s Welfare Department Kashmir Monday organized a one day workshop cum awareness program on post harvest management of Saffron and e-auctioning at India International Kashmir Saffron Trade Centre (IIKSTC) Dusso.
Joint Director Agriculture Extension Mohammad Muzaffer Hurra inaugurated the training program which was attended by a large gathering of Saffron growers and officers/officials of IIKSTC.
Speaking on the occasion Mohammad Muzaffer Hurra said the Department of Agriculture under the aegis of India International Kashmir Saffron Trading Centre (IIKSTC), contemplates to promote trading of GI Tagged “Kashmir Saffron” through PAN India e-Auction portal. while elaborating importance of the e- auctioning Joint Director said the sole aim is of providing this type of platform to the buyers is to have access to quality “Kashmir Saffron”. He said today’s event is to update and educate the officers and farmers regarding the latest marketing trends around the globe.
Joint Director said e- auctioning will provide an efficient platform to the saffron growers for getting optimum returns of their yield which will ultimately boost the economy of this area without the interference of intermediaries.
Later the farmers were provided detailed training regarding post harvest management of Saffron.
Officers of the Department and IIKSTC presented lectures regarding today’s program to the participants.
