Disaster preparedness training held at Wagoora grid station

Srinagar: J&K State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) Srinagar and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, in collaboration with Civil Defence Budgam, J&K SDRF and Institution of Engineers (India) J&K State Centre Srinagar, organised Disaster Preparedness training and mock fire drill, at Grid Station Wagoora, B.K. Pora Budgam, today. The training was organised as part of the National Safety Week activities of Power Grid Corporation.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Er. Aamir Ali, Nodal Officer SEOC and Chairman Institution of Engineers, JKSC. The Guest of Honour was Er M. Aaquib Sultana Waheed Deva Honorary Secretary IEI. Er. Arshad Khan, General Manager, Operations, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd welcomed the guests and facilitated the training program. Others who participated included Er. Shafat Ahmed Wani, General Manager RE/SLTS, Er. Arshad Iqbal General Manager ST Works and Shiv Kumar, Assistant Commandant CISF.
A team comprising of Aijaz Ahmed, Bashir Ahmed, Abdul Qayoom, Ghulam Mohammad Mir, Noor-ul-Nayeem, Bilal Ahmed, Imtiaz Ahmed, Mohammed Illiyas, Wahid Hussain and Arshad Ahmed War imparted the training to the participants. Bilquees Dar, Consultant SDMA also spoke about various safety measures.
The participants were imparted training in Fire Fighting, Basic First Aid, Search & Rescue techniques. They were given hands-on experience of various emergency rescue methods and were also shown how to use a rope as a basic rescue tool and different types of knots. The participants learnt about different types of fire and methods used to extinguish fire, particularly electric induced fires. Later, a fire mock drill was also held and the participants practically used fire extinguishers. A similar training has also been scheduled to be held at Grid Station, New Damjan Qazigund Anantnag in the coming days.
