Two non locals among three drug peddlers arrested by Police in Awantipora, 400 Kgs of poppy straw recovered

Awantipora: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday arrested three drug peddlers including two Punjab residents and recovered 400 kg poppy straw in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A senior Police official of JKP told Kashmir Reader that a naka point was set up near Beighpora Crossing by a police party from Police Post Reshipora headed by Chowki Officer Sub Inspector Ali Mohammad.
He said a dumper truck was signaled at the naka.
“The vehicle attempted to fled away, it was chased and stopped at some distance from naka check point,” the police officer said, adding that the dumper was searched .
“400 Kgs of poppy straw was recovered and seized by the Police Party which was concealed in 20 large bags kept inside the space specially created in the body of the dumper,” he told, adding that it was difficult for police party to find out
the camouflaged space created for the transport of consignment.
All the three drug peddlers were arrested and identified as Mohammad Mushtaq son of Mohammad Ismaeel, resident of Kuthala Ferozepur Sangrur Punjab, Mustafa son of Abdul Lateef, resident of Kuthiala Ferozepur Sangrur, Punjab and Umer Farooq Wani son of Farooq Ahmad Wani, resident of Budriwan Pulwama.
He said that the dumper truck bearing registration number JK19 -1210 used in the commission of the said crime has been seized.
A case FIR Number 27/2021under relevant sections of NDPS stands registered at Police Station Awantipora. “Upon preliminary investigation the consignment was being carried out of UT of Jammu and Kashmir.”
