GDC Sumbal organizes symposium on Causes and Preventions of Heart Attacks

Sumbal: Governmental Degree College Sumbal Thursday organised a day-long symposium on the topic “Heart Attack: Causes and Preventions”.
The symposium was organised by the College Debates & Seminars Committee in collaboration with the Psychological Counselling Cell of the College and was attended by students and faculty members. Prof. Maheen Mustafa, Principal–Srinagar Women’s College, Zakura was the chief guest on the occasion.
The experts who deliberated on this thought provoking subject include Dr. Sheikh Mohd. Tahir, Interventional Cardiologist Consultant, SSH GMC, Srinagar and Dr. Hamid Bashir, DNB Cardiology Consultant, SMHS Hospital, Srinagar.
While giving out the presidential address, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammed Shafi Khan, Principal–Govt. Degree College Sumbal provided an insight about how heart attacks have caused sense of insecurity in our society as a result of sudden and premature deaths of our youngsters, day in and day out.
Prof. Khan expressed his deep concern about such losses of valuable human lives. He said that it is in this backdrop that the symposium on the said subject has been organized.
Speakers on the occasion deliberated at length about how these heart attacks can be prevented by taking certain important precautions and how various precious lives can be saved. The presentations were well taken and appreciated by the participants and with the result a number of reasonable questions were raised to which the experts replied satisfactorily.
The welcome address was presented by the Staff Secretary of the college, Dr. Mehraj Hajni and proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Aadil Mohiuddin.
Vote of thanks for session–I was given by Dr. Mohd. Rafiq Beigh and for session–II by Prof. Riyaz Ahmad Kuchay. Dr. Fahim–ul Hassan acted as rapporteur of the event.
