Missing Shar Shali woman’s body recovered from river Jhelum near Pampore

Pampore: The body of a young woman, who was missing from Shaar Shali village of Pampore from last one month, was recovered from Jhelum in Pampore area on Thursday.
It was fished out from river Jhelum near Chaaryaar Majid Frestabal area of Pampore, police said.
Police officials said that the body was seen floating in the river Jhelum by some locals of Pampore.
“The locals informed us and soon a team under SHO Pampore Mohammad Younis Khan was rushed to the spot and the body was recovered from river Jehlum,” SDPO Pampore , Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader .
He told Kashmir Reader that the deceased was identified as Rukeena Akhtar (28) daughter of Ali Mohammad Bhat, resident of Shar Shali village of Pampore.
The lady was missing from her residence since January 18, 2021 and a missing report in this regard stands registered in police station Khrew by uncle of the deceased uncle Ghulam Geelani Bhat son of Ghulam Mohi ud Din Bhat, resident of Sharshali Khrew. Police shifted the body to Sub district hospital Pampore for autopsy.
After the autopsy, the body of the deceased was handed over to the legal heirs for last rites.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) Pampore Dr Gulzar Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that they carried out necessary medical formalities.
“We conducted an autopsy and once the result is received the cause of death can be ascertained,” he said.
After conducting the autopsy, the body was handed over to family members.
The locals appealed to the police to investigate the matter.
