UDHAMPUR: To control the soil erosion and raise the water table in the area, a plantation drive was Saturday conducted here at Prowa Jagir watershed area by the Project Manager Integrated Water Management Programme (IWMP), Udhampur Sapna Kotwal along with field functionaries.
During the drive, PO IWMP interacted with the people and watershed committee members and distributed mulberry and Horticulture plants. She asked them to plant more trees around the water harvesting tank and watershed area. She said that plantation will help in controlling soil erosion which will ultimately raise the water table in the area. She added that the water harvesting tank constructed by IWMP is helping about 300-350 SC population.
Among others present were JAEO, Paras Ram; DLTE , Dr. Nasir Hafiz; Watershed Development Team member Rahul Gupta and watershed committee members.
