Awareness program on drug abuse held at Ganderbal

Sonamarg: Glacier Times a Media Group organised an awareness program at Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Gund on Saturday to highlight the evils of drug abuse.
The main focus of the program was to make aware the students about the ill effects of drug addiction among society.
The speakers present on the occasion awaked the audience about use of drugs and its menace in the society.
They said the use of drugs among youth is increasing among the youth of Kashmir. It also leads to an increase in petty crimes, they said.
Speaker said there is a need to identify the sellers who are involving the youth in drugs and they should be booked under strict law.
SDPO Kangan Syed Yasir Qadri spoke about preventive measures and police in prevention of drug menace, he said the parents teachers and other members of this area along with the police have play a pivotal role in eradicating these widely spreading menace, which area consuming younger generation directly and indirectly.
Deputy CCommissioner Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal who was also chief guest on the occasion highlighted the prevalence of drug abusers and stressed the audience especially the adolescents regarding the hazardous substance abuse on both physical and mental health of the youth.
He also appealed to the civil society to come forward and help to eradicate this social menace.
Senior journalist G.N Raina and editor in chief of Glacier times said the main aim of the programme was to spread awareness amongst the student community to take necessary steps for curbing the drug menace
He urged youth not to get involved in such things saying that the results are disastrous.
