Police arrest 3 drug peddlers from Pampore, 1 at Awantipora

PAMPORE: Three drug peddlers were arrested along with heroin by police in Pampore on Friday.
According to police 11 grams of substance suspected to be heroin was recovered from their possession.
The arrested have been identified as Tabish Rafiq son of Mohammad Rafiq Bhat, resident of Namblabal Pampore, Mudasir Ahmad son of Mohammad Ashraf Dar, resident of Namblabal Pampore and Sahil Arshid son of Arshid Ahmad Rather, resident of Kadalbal Pampore.
The arrests were madeduring checks at MEI School Namblabal Pampore after three persons moving in suspicious circumstances and were stopped for checking. During checking, the trio were found to be carrying/ possessing a contraband substance suspected to be heroin about 11 grams, police officers told Kashmir Reader.
A team from police station Pampore led by SHO Mohammad Younis Khan made the arrest under the supervision of SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem and SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad, police said.
A Case FIR number 13/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Pampore.
Meanwhile, Police in Awantipora arrested one more drug peddler.
Acting on information, Reshipora Police Post placed a special Naka at Dahwatoo and arrested one drug peddler identified as Shabir Ahmad Khan son of Noor Mohammad Khan, resident of Lethpora Awantipora.
The vehicle bearing registration number JK01X-1234 in which the arrested person was travelling has also been seized.
5 Kgs of grinded cannabis and 500 grams of charas sticks was recovered from the possession of the said person, a police officer said.
A Case FIR Number 19/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS stands registered at Police Station Awantipora.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
