Fire damages govt school at Shopian village

Shopian: A fire that broke out in the evening on Thursday damaged a government middle school at Nadigam village of Shopian.
The fire according to locals broke out at 6:50 pm due to unknown reasons in the building.
They said that they tried to douse the fire however, unavailability of water and snow all around reduced their effort as they were not able to arrange water.
A local said that some of the neighbouring residents brought water from their houses to douse the fire. “Despite calling the fire and emergency services department on time, they could not reach their on time which further caused the damage to the building.
A police official told Kashmir Reader that they have contacted the department and they are on their way to the spot.
Meanwhile, locals said that first the fire tender reached late to the village and when it did, it was not able to reach the spot due to uncleared snow.
They said that a building comprising at least four rooms has almost vanished in the fire incident.
