Covid 19 vaccine programme kick started at SDH Pampore, BMO gets first jab, says ‘vaccine safe’

Pampore: Covid -19 vaccination programme was kick started in Sub District Hospital Pampore on Thursday with in-charge Block Medical Officer Pampore, Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Bhat first to receive the shot.Other staff members including doctors, paramedics and ASHA workers also were vaccinated.
The vaccination programme was launched by PM of India, Narendra Modi on 16 January for different categories of health staff across the country.
Talking to Kashmir Reader, Dr Mohammad Ashraf told that at district level the vaccination programme was started on the same day.
“Today it kicked started in our Pampore block and I received the first jab,” he said, adding that people had some apprehensions that the vaccination might show some serious side effects and there would be complications due to which there was resentment from there side.
“As in charge of the place I get the first jab to demonstrate to my staff that it is safe and they should come forward for the same,” he said, requesting his staff members to come forward for the vaccination so that the virus is defeated.
He added that in the first session of day one they would be vaccinating 100 staff members and the programme will move ahead in that manner.
He said that around 40 staff members were immunised by 12:00 pm on the first day. He also added that like other vaccines , this vaccine too might have some minor side effects which subside within one hour with paracetamol. Earlier Block Medical Officer Dr. Mohammad Ashraf inaugurated the programme by cutting a ribbon at Sub district hospital Pampore.
The entire staff of Sub district hospital especially BMO, RMO, others doctors and paramedical did a commendable job in controlling spread of Coronavirus by working tirelessly.
