Market checkingheld in Awantipora, erring traders fined,warned

Awantipora: A joint checking squad on Monday conducted inspection at Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and realized fine from shopkeepers for violating various norms.
The checking was conducted by councillors of Municipal Committee Awantipora, Municipal Committee officials and Police.
They took stock of the various items sold in the market.
The inspection team checked the quality, hygienic condition, expiry and rate lists etc of food items and other essential commodities.
During the market checking the Vegetables/Fruits Shops were inspected and the unhygienic/rotten vegetables/fruits/expired items were destroyed and seized on the spot.
Officials while talking to Kashmir Reader said that they conducted market checking at Awantipora to make it sure that prices are not hiked.
“Various erring vegetable and vendors were fined on the spot and other were directed to keep rate list with them every time they sell the products,” the officials said.
“We received a complaint that a particular petrol pump owner is selling fuel of substandard quality, Municipal Councilor Awantipora Farooq Ahmad Dar said, adding that they lifted samples of the fuel and sent it to laboratory for analysis.
