Baramulla: Covid 19 vaccination drive which is called Covidshield was kick started across the north Kashmir on Saturday, inwhich several doctors, health workers and Asia workers were vaccinated.
In Kupwara, the district development commissioner Anshul Garg kick-started the vaccination driver at sub district hospital Kupwara in presence of ADC Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone and CMO Dr Kousar Amin.
The first immunization vaccine was received by Mohammad Ramzan District tuberculosis officer Kupwara. In addition 100 health workers including ASHAs and Anganwadi workers of Kupwara block were vaccinated. On the occasion, the DDC said that all 4500 vaccination doses available in the district will be utilized at first to cover up the health workers. He said that 43 identified sites in the district are ready to carry out the vaccination programme. Vaccination doses have been also stocked at border area Tangdar, Machill and Keran he said. He also inspected various sections of vaccination centres and stores where it has been dumped.
In Handwara, the drive was also kick started by ADC Handwara Nazir Ahmad Mir in presence of medical superintendent district hospital Handwara, where 100 health workers were vaccinated at the vaccination centre in the hospital.
Similarly, In north Kashmir’s Baramulla, Covid 19 vaccination drive was kick started by the district development commissioner Dr Gulam Nabi Itoo in government medical college Baramulla and sub district hospital Sopore and around 3300 frontline workers to be vaccinated in the first phase. The programme was launched as part of the nation wide COVID-19 vaccine roll out wherein health and frontline workers shall be vaccinated in the ist phase. After launching the campaign, DC said that about 3300 health and frontline workers from across the district shall be vaccinated in this drive. He added that adequate and proper arrangements have been made for launching the subsequent phases.
Moreover, DC said that all those functionaries who worked tirelessly and selflessly in realizing the dream, deserve much appreciation and gratitude. DC wrote it on the social media sites soon after the drive started in the district.
