JKCSF for airlifting of stranded passengers, essential commodities

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum(JKCSF) has taken a dig at the administration for not having given facilities to the stranded passengers on Srinagar Jammu Highway and dealt effectively the scarcity crisis of essential commodities in Kashmir amid the heavy snowfall after which the road was closed and continues to be closed.
In a statement issued here Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani lambasted the authorities upon their approach of meeting the so called crisis of snow which he said is a matter of routine season in Kashmir than calling it any calamity.
Wani said every year winter comes with a snowfall and the government ought to be prepared for the challenges in advance by virtue of road clearance, flights and the stocks of essential commodities to meet the crisis. The Srinagar Jammu Highway is bound to get blocked as and when inclement weather disturbs the road particularly in harsh winter. “Afterall why a plan is not worked out in advance to overcome the problems that is streamlining the air flight fare and stocking of sufficient essential commodities. Why Air fares touch sky whenever the road gets closed especially nowadays when experts predict closure for more days” Wani asked
JKCSF demanded the immediate redressal of public grievances especially airlifting of stranded passengers of Srinagar Jammu Highway and other hilly areas and ensure the availability of essential commodities and the price control thereof.
