DC B’la, Gbl reviews snow clearance measures, restoration of essential services

BARAMULLA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo Tuesday chaired a meeting of concerned officers to take stock of snow clearance measures and restoration of essential services in the district.
During the meeting, DC took a comprehensive review of various related matters during which he directed for mobilisation of additional men and machinery so that all major and link roads are cleared on war footing basis so that people may not face any inconvenience.
He also took a detailed review of various essential services including water, power and other services wherein he emphasised for restoring it within the shortest possible time, wherever it got disrupted.
Meanwhile, DC also took a brief account of health and medicare services in the district during which he stressed on providing qualitative and efficient medicare services to the people so that they do not have to suffer in present circumstances.
It was informed that the health department has launched an emergency health mobilisation programme wherein critical patients more especially pregnant women of remote areas were shifted to some designated health centres well in advance so that any kind of exigency is averted.
Meanwhile ,Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today took a whirlwind tour of Ganderbal town to take firsthand appraisal of the snow clearance operation, restoration of essential services.
During the visit, the DC personally monitored the snow clearance operations, restoration of electricity and water supply in the town.
Earlier, DC Ganderbal chaired a meeting to review the restoration of essential services and snow clearance operation besides stock position and supply of essential commodities in the district following heavy snowfall.
On the occasion DC directed the concerned officers to ensure adequate stock of food-grains, fuel, medicines and other related things.
The officials from concerned departments briefed the DDC about the status of restoration of affected services and snow clearance operation in the district. The DC took briefs from the officials about the action plans prepared by the concerned departments to deal with any exigency arising due to heavy snowfall.
The DDC directed the concerned officers to remain available at headquarters for prompt response to the public grievances and for better coordination in dealing with snow clearance operations in the district.
Meanwhile the district Administration has asked the general public to contact the district control room (0194-2416260, 2416229) for urgent assistance in view of the snowfall situation.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmed Baba, ASP Ganderbal, CPO Ganderbal, EO Municipality, Executive Engineers of various engineering wings.
