CPWS working with education department hold protest, seek implementation of minimum wages act

SRINAGAR: The contingent paid Workers (CPWS) working in the education department on Tuesday held a protest here in Srinagar demanding the implementation of the minimum wages act and departmental promotions (DPC) for the CPWS .
The protesting contingent paid Workers from various districts of the Kashmir valley assembled here press enclave and chanting slogans “we want justice”, ” we want implementation of minimum wages act” and ” we want DPC”.
The protesting CPWS said that they are demanding the government to do the DPC of those contingent paid Workers whose DPC has been completed yet.
State President of the contingent paid Workers Union, Abdul Gani Malik said that in 2008 the government had created SRO 308 in the education department in which 50 percent of the quota has been reserved for us.
” From year 2018, we have submitted our files in the concerned districts, so DPC can be done in favour of the Contingent Paid workers. Three years have passed away but our DPC is still pending in the department,” Malik said.
He said that we have visited the Directorate office so many times to know the clear status of pending DPC of the CPWS but we are still waiting for our DPC from last 3 years in the department.
The protesting CPWS said that the government should implement the minimum wages act in favour of the Contingent Paid workers so they can take their wages as per minimum wages act policy.
