Mathematics day celebrates

Ganderbal: Department of Mathematics, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organised an induction programme for the newly admitted students of M.A/M.Sc and Integrated B.Sc-M.Sc programme at Arts Campus here.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, Registrar, Prof. M. Afzal Zargar, Director IQAC, Prof Farooq Ahmad Shah, Dean School of Physical And Chemical Sciences Prof. Wali Mohammad Shah and faculty members were present on the occasion.
Prof. Wali Mohammad Shah welcomed the guests and students and referred to the life and contributions of Ramanujanhe, he advised the students to study Mathematics seriously as the society at present needs bright scholars and scientists.
Prof. M. Afzal Zargar highlighted that CUK follows its academic calendar strictly and values the precious time of the students and elaborated that here a Five/Two years programme means a Five /Two years programme. He also praised the department for conducting the programme on the national day of mathematics and asked the students to follow Ramanujan as their role model.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir in his address praised the Department for offering Integrated B.Sc-M.Sc Programme besides M.A/M/Sc and M.Phil- Ph.D programmes. He advised the students to utilize their precious time in their studies and meet up the expectation of their parents and appreciated the parents for sponsoring their children for higher studies in subjects like Mathematics .
Later on, the faculty members interacted with the students and briefed them about the programme. Programme proceedings were conducted by Mr. G.M. Sofi Assistant Professor and the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Aftab Hussain Shah, senior Assistant Professor.
