GDC Bijbehara organizes e-Workshop on ‘Biodiversity: Status and Future Prospects’

ANANTNAG: The Department of Zoology and Botany of Government Degree College Bijbehara organized a three days UT level e-Workshop on ‘Biodiversity: Status and Future Prospects’ from 21st to 23rd December, 2020.
The programme was kick started with the inaugural session wherein Prof. Nighat Fatima, Principal GDC Bijbehara delivered a welcome address in which she highlighted the importance of organizing this workshop.
Director Colleges Prof M.Y. Peerzada presented some valuable suggestions regarding the ecological implications of some invasive alien species into the Habitats of Kashmir Himalayas.
Former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, J&K, O.P. Sharma in his keynote address gave an in depth analysis of the status of biodiversity in J&K.
Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Department J&K Talat Parvez Rohella in his presidential address dwelt on the need of conserving biodiversity which due to human greed and lust for more are being deprived of their natural niches.
During the proceeding several Assistant Professors, invited guests and other scholars delivered lectures on the subject.
Meanwhile, Additional Secretary Higher Education Dept. Sanjeev Rana, presented concluding remarks and appreciated the role of organizers and carrying forward this initiative so that the importance of biodiversity can be realized by one and all for the very survival of the human race.
