Election Results: PDP’s Tazeema Akhter wins Pampore block constituency by 349 votes

Pampore: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) nominated candidate for Pampore block constituency for District Development Council (DDC) elections, Tazeema Akhter, won the constituency by defeating an Independent candidate Haleema Bano.
Tazeema, is a resident of Batdalow Khrew village of Pampore.
Tazeema got 1074 votes while as her rival, got 725 votes. She won by a margin of 349 votes.
The constituency was reserved for women and four candidates were fray including Tazeem Akhter of Peoples Democratic Party, Babita Bhat of Bartiya Janta Party, Shah Zareena of National Conference and Haleema Bano, Independent.
A total of 2,639 votes were registered for the Constituency with PDP’s Tazeema securing 1074, Haleema Bano, an Independent got 725 votes, National Conference’s Shah Zareena 505 votes and Bartiya Janta Party’s Babeta Bhat 153 votes. 183 votes were declared as invalid for the constituency.
70 votes were migrant votes out of which 69 were polled for Bartiya Janta Party and one for National Conference.
Talking to Kashmir Reader here at JKEDI Pampore where counting of votes was held , she thanked her voters and party and congratulated both for the win. She was accompanied by her family members.
“I congratulate my voters and will work for the betterment of all people of my constituency, those who voted for me and also for those who didn’t,” She said.
She was awarded an election winning certificate by returning officer (RO) concerned after congratulating her at JKEDI Pampore.The BJP candidate Babeta Bhat also congratulated Tazeema for winning the constituency. She hugged her and told her that she worked hard for the elections.
