Three notorious drug peddlers arrested in Pampore, 13 kilograms of poppy, Rs 32000 cash recovered

PAMAPORE: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday arrested three more notorious drug peddlers from Saffron town Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district along with 13 kg poppy straw, rupees thirty two thousand and Santro car, police said.
A senior police officer told Kashmir Reader that a naka was laid at Literbal area of Pampore near a gas plant by a team of Pampore police led by Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad and assisted by Station House Officer (SHO) Pampore Manzoor Ahmad after receiving information of movement of three notorious drug peddlers in the area.
A Santro car bearing registration number JK01AK/ 9899 was intercepted from which three peddlers were arrested and 13 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from their possession,” the police officer said, adding they were carrying the straw in a bag in the trunk of the car.
“Rupees 32,000 were seized from their possession,” he said.
The arrested drug peddlers were identified as Yawar Yousuf Sofi, son of Mohammad yousuf, Lateef Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohammad, both residents of Kadlabal Pampore and Bilal Ahmad Shiekh, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh resident of Kadlabal Pampore who is presently putting up Check Pehru village of Budgam.
The Santro vehicle too was seized by the police and an case FIR 104/2020 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered against the arrested peddlers at police station Pampore.
Earlier Pampore police arrested a wanted drug peddler and recovered 20 grams heroin, 25 bottles codeine and 22,000 cash from his possession at Saffron town Pampore
SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that the drive against drug peddlers will continue till the menace is eliminated from the area .
He also sought help from the general public in curbing the menace.
The Civil society members and local residents of the Saffron town Pampore appreciated police for launching a drive against drug trafficking during the past couple of weeks in which a number of peddlers were arrested.
