In a month, electric transformer of Narvaw village damages 5 times

PDD blames locals for damage, urges judicious use of power

BARAMULLA: An electric transformer in Narvaw area of Baramulla got damaged five times in a month, resulting in the people of the area are facing hardships in this winter.
Local people of Syeed Qamardin Mohla, Fatehgrah Narvaw Baramulla said that they are facing hardships from the past one month after their 100 KW electric transformer gutted five times in a month and they fail to understand what the department is doing.
They said that they approached the higher officials of the department so many times for a new transformer but they are not paying any attention.
The executive engineer (Exn) power development department (PDD) Baramulla Dalbir Singh confirmed that the transformer of said village was damaged five times in the past month, but it all due to overloading.
“Yes the transformer of the said village damaged five times in past one month and every time we repair it at our Baramulla workshop, as per investigation held by our field staff, every time the transformer gutted after 10 pm, which indicates that people are consuming electricity more than its capacity, otherwise there are only 45 houses depends on it and around 30 kilowatt will be their load, now we are making a plan to handle this situation and hope it will not damage in future” the official said.
He said that we are not happy if people of any area will suffer but people should avoid overloading, they should not use heaters and boilers mostly in morning and evening times, otherwise they can face such situations in every area.
