Seminar on Nasha Mukt Abhiyan held at Budgam

BUDGAM, A daylong seminar cum awareness programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat (NMB) Abhiyan was today jointly organised by District Administration and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam here.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam, Dr. Nasir Ahmad was the Chief Guest while, Secretary DLSA, Budgam, Tabasum Qadri Parray was the special invitee on the occasion.
While addressing the audiences, the Chief Guest said that there is still sufficient time to put all efforts together to eradicate drug menace from grass roots level, however to materialize all this, there is need of cumulative collaboration from all concerned.
The ADC urged upon the educational institution heads influential persons, Sr. Citizens, Imams of Masjids, Numberdars/Chowkidars and other NGO’s to play a pivotal role in ensuring awareness among youth about this menace. He impressed upon all particularly Gazetted Officers to impose a fine of Rs 200 upon any person violating rules regarding smoking openly at public places and other prohibited areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary DLSA said that there are 7 aspects behind taking youth into drug addiction viz. mental curiosity, stress, abuse, social negligence etc and added that it shall be our endeavor and commitment towards society to keep close watch.
She said that strong family bonds are essential in reducing the stressing effects on children and urged upon all concerned to conduct awareness programmes at all vulnerable areas and spots and sustained awareness about its hazardous effects, destroying a persons patience, confidence, physically as well as mentally.
She said that capacity building programmes for service providers, increase community participation and public cooperation reach to children and youth is critical in achieving success against drug addiction.
District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Budgam, Dr. Farhana Asgar while addressing the Abhiyan said that in active participation and sincere support of all allied agencies we are drafting a plan to constitute teams and assign them tasks to spread the awareness which shall be result oriented.
The DSW department on the occasion launched a signature campaign duly participated by all present.
The daylong seminar cum awareness programme was also attended by all educational institution Heads including college Principals, Pharmacist representatives, NGO’s, Volunteers, concerned from drug de-addiction centers.
