DDC elections witness 6.16 polling in 2 constituencies of Awantipora

AWANTIPORA: Above 6 percent polling was registered in two constituencies of Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district for the fourth phase of the ongoing eight-phased District Development Council (DDC) elections on Monday.
The voting in the area remained peaceful as no untoward incident was recorded during the polling.
The two constituencies which went into polls include Awantipora A and Awantipora B.
Officials told Kashmir Reader that for Awantipora A 1040 votes were polled out of 18467 with 5.63 percent while as Awantipora B 1149 votes were polled out of 17144 with 6.7 percent.
“70 polling stations were established at 29 different locations for the two constituencies,” the officials said.
Puchal and Chandhara villages recorded the highest number of votes.
Puchal village recorded 30.30% and Chandhara village recorded 21.35% Police Awantipora had made tight security arrangements for the smooth polling.
For Awantipora DDC constituency, five candidates are in fray including two independents and one each from PDP, Apni Party and BJP.
For Awantipora B, which is reserved for women, six candidates are in fray including 4 independents, one from Apni Party and one from PDP, reports said.
