BARAMULLA: There are 32 district development councils (DDC), 34 Sarpanch, 147 Panch and 02 ULB candidates in fray for the second phase of DDC/ULB/Panchayat by elections in Baramulla district which will be held on December 01, officials said.
They said that a total of 35 nominations were received from 02 DDC constituencies of Kunzer and Zaingeer out of which 2 candidates withdrew their nomination and 01 nomination was rejected on scrutiny thereby leaving a total of 32 candidates in fray. Similarly for 21 sarpanch vacant seats, a total of 50 nominations were received out of which 08 candidates withdrew their nominations and 08 candidates have been declared as elected unopposed thereby leaving 34 candidates in fray.
For 298 vacancies of Panch seats, a total of 420 nominations were received out of which 02 nominations were rejected on scrutiny and 39 candidates withdrew their nominations. Also 232 panch candidates have been declared as elected unopposed thereby leaving 147 candidates in fray, also 02 candidates are also in fray for 01 seat in Municipal committee (MC) in Kunzar area of district.
