BARAMULLA: Bomb disposal squad (BDS) of the army on Monday detonated an unexploded shell in Kamalkote village of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and successfully destroyed it.
This after heavy gunfight and mortar shelling between the armies of India and Pakistan last Friday in which two civilians and two army men were killed, over one dozen people were injured, while over 40 residential houses were damaged in the cross border firing.
Officials said that a live shell was found unexploded in a residential house near Sageer Hussain Shah son of Nangh Ali Shah at Kamalkote.On Monday a bomb disposal squad of army was called who destroyed it.
The locals said that there are many more unexploded shells in other several villages of Hajipeer and Kamalkote sector that are yet to be destroyed. However the officials said that people should inform the police if they come across live shells in the area.
