Man impersonating as ACB official arrested by police

AWANTIPORA: Police on Friday arrested a Panthachowk resident from Pampore area for allegedly impersonating an Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Official,
Police in Awantipora received a complaint from a resident of Dadsara village of Tral that a person stopped him while he was driving a car near Toll Plaza Awantipora and introduced himself as Anti Corruption Bureau Official. He further stated that after searching my car he also asked for my phone number. Later on, during evening hours he called on my phone number with the intention to extort money from me, a police officer told Kashmir Reader.
Acting swiftly on this complaint, Awantipora Police taking aid of modern technique were able to identify the person as Mohammad Amin Wani resident of Zafron Colony Panthachowk, Srinagar and subsequently arrested him from Pampore area. A case FIR number 164/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated, he said.
Locals of the area lauded the role and prompt action of police.
The General public are requested not to fall prey in the hands of such fraudulent people. Police have resolved to act tough against inimical elements.
