House, cowshed gutted in Sonamarg blaze

Sonamarg: A residential house and a cow shed was gutted that led to the death of four sheep in a massive blaze in Nilgrath village of Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday morning.
Officials said that the fire broke out early morning in the residential house owned by Mohammad Hussain Balti son of Abdul Raheem Balti a resident of Nilgrath Sonamarg.
Besides the Baltis house, a cow shed was also gutted, they said.
The family members residing in the house were evacuated, however four sheep perished
Soon after the incident, the officials said they started relief and rescue operations while revenue teams also rushed to the spot to assess the damage. The official said there was no report of injury or loss to human life.
The locals said they have been for a long time demanding a fire tender for Sonamarg area and had even raised the demand with the official of all Back to Village programmes as well.
Police has reached on spot and further investigation has been initiated in this regard.
