Dir Agriculture visits IIKTC Dusso Pampore , holds review meeting with staff, interacts with saffron growers

PAMPORE: Director Agriculture Kashmir Syed Aijaz Altaf Andrabi on Wednesday visited India International Kashmir Trade Centre at Dusso area of Pampore in South Kashmir ‘s Pulwama district where he took a review meeting on saffron production and the status of the centrally sponsored schemes .
Speaking on the occasion, The Director emphasized upon the officers to put in force all the professional capabilities and transfer the latest technologies and innovations to the farmers for making agriculture more profitable and glamorous.
Andrabi directed Chief Agriculture Officer Pulwama to aware farmers regarding the latest farming trends in all the sub divisions of the district for maximum outreach to the farming community and emphasized for taking all necessary steps for doubling the farmers’ income by 2022.
While interacting with the field functionaries, Director Agriculture stressed that vegetable production can be adopted for commercial purposes besides fulfilling the domestic requirement and to take up high value crops need to be promoted on priority which will prove to be a money spinner for the farming Community.
Andrabi instructed the officers for involving young and fresh minds for branding of special products for promotion of the agriculture sector and training them regarding the latest techniques, marketing trends, so that they can compete in the National Agriculture Market for earning their livelihood with dignity from this sector.
Talking to Kashmir Reader he said that today we were in Pulwama for reviewing saffron production and other centrally sponsored schemes.
e said that he was impressed with the work performed by district level staff.
He hoped that Pulwama will be prosperous in vegetable production and organic cultivation.
Earlier Chief Agriculture Officer Pulwama apprised the Director regarding major achievements under National Saffron Mission and some prestigious projects being implemented in the district.
The meeting was also attended by Joint Director Inputs Amir-ud-Din Andrabi, Chief Agriculture Officer, Mohammad Qasim Gani and other senior officers of the Department.
Later he met with the Saffron growers association led by its president Abdul Majeed Wani at Spice park Dusoo.
