Unattended garbage cause inconvenience to Bla locals

BARAMULLA: Heaps of stinking garbage at many places in Old town Baramulla has become a major cause of inconvenience to the people who want immediate removal of this piled mess.
Local people of several areas of Old town said that heaps of stinking garbage caused grave inconvenience to the local people and other pedestrians. They said there are no garbage bins in the area resulting in the residents being forced to dump waste material on roads, Nala’s, river banks or nearby drains.
They said that littering all around the Municipality has miserably failed to find a permanent solution to this growing problem.
The heaps of unattended garbage attract stray dogs and other stray animals which add to the woes.
Meanwhile the Chairman Municipal Council (MC) Baramulla, Umar Azhar Kakroo said that, there are three big garbage sheds in Old town in Tawheed Gung, at Iqbal Colony and third one is at Iqbal market, where people can dump their waste and our men will lift it, further there are other small dustbins in all most all the localities in Old town area where people are dumping their waste and later our men are clearing it.
He added that Nala’s area however, falls within the jurisdiction of the Irrigation and flood control department, calling upon them to clear the streams, saying that the local municipality will also lead a helping hand.
He again appealed to people of all areas to not throw the waste on roads, streets and Nala’s, and dump it in dustbins and our garbage shades where from we will lift it.
