First time ever, inter village volleyball tournament held at Uri LOC

Baramulla: For the first time an inter village volleyball tournament was held in North Kashmir’s Churanda village of Uri in Baramulla district. The final match of the tournament was played between Thajal (A) and Churanda(A) in which former beats latter by 3-0, in the premises of government middle school ground Churanda.
The tournament in which several teams from adjoining villages of area took part was organised by army’s 21 Kumaon regiment of Pirpanjal Uri.
The four days long tournament concluded on Thursday inwhich large number of people and sports lovers participated.
Second commanding officer of 21 Kumaon regiment Col J D Samuel said that, we are very happy to organise such sports event in the village with the help of local people the area. This provided opportunity to youth of the area living close of line of control to exhibit their talent. Village head Churanda Laldin Ahmad said that, it is first time when such a tournament was held in their village otherwise they saw the cross border firing and shelling only in past, he said it is first time when sports lovers from several villages who are living very close to the LOC participated in the games and people including men, women and children were jubilant.
The Churanda village is located on the line of control (LOC) in Hajipeer sector of Uri area.
Hussaini Sports Club holds Girls Trekking at Gulmarg
SRINAGAR: Hussaini Sports Club holds One Day Trekking for girls at Gulmarg in which 32 girls took part.
Deputy Director Tourism(Recreation) Adeel flagged off the Trekking contingent from TRC Srinagar.
Girls trekked the Kongdoori Peak Phase I and finished at Gulmarg Golf Club.
Later on chief guest CEO Gulmarg Development Authority Inam Ul Haq distributed certificates among participants. Assitant Director Tourism, Gulmarg, Javeed Ul Rehman, Manager JKTDC Riyaz Ahmad, SDPO Gulmarg Hilal Khaliq, SHO Gulmarg Shahnawaz Khan, Senior Members JKHSC Riyaz Wani, Vilayat Hussain and Zahid Hussain were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion CEO GDA encouraged participants for completing trekking successfully and organisers for promoting such activities. We are organising Sports Conference in next month said Secretary Ahsan Ali while presenting vote of thanks.
The Trekking was organised by Hussaini Sports Club and was sponsored by Department of Tourism (Kashmir).
