SRINAGAR: Sports Council Football Academy (SCFA) comprehensively beat Polo Ground XI by 3-1 goals in the finals of Downtown Football Festival 2020 played at Islamia College of Science and Commerce ground on Thursday.
In the first half, both teams made several moves to take the lead but it was SCFA striker Afreen Bashrat who scored a first goal from outside the box in first half and gave his side one goal lead. When the first half ended the scoreline remained 1:0 goals in favour of SCFA.
In the second half Polo Ground XI team changed their strategy and made several attempts to score equaliser and succeeded to level the score. Few minutes later SCFA striker Touseef Ahmad scored the second goal and Afreen Bashart scored third goal for the winning team. Afreen Basharat for his outstanding performance was adjudged man of the match Award. Polo Ground XI attacked many attempts but SCFA stood the pressure and saved three to four attempts.
When the final whistle blew the score-line remained 3-1 goal in favour of SCFA.
A large gathering of football lovers and spectators witnessed the match.
Among guests Sandeep Gupta S.P City North, Principal Islamia College, Sheikh Aijaz Ahmad,general secretary JKFA Prof B.A Shah, and other official & members of JKFA were present at the function and witnessed the match.
The tournament was organised by Downtown Football community in collaboration with J&K Football Association in which 32 participated.
