Water shortage irks Wader village in Ramhall Handwara

Handwara: The residents of Wader village of Ramhall Handwara are up in arms against the Jal Shakti department, who according to them failed to provide the drinking water for local residents.
Javid Ahmad, a social worker, said that villagers are facing acute shortage of drinking water and the concerned department is watching it as mute spectators. He said Hatchmulla water supply scheme which provides drinking water to the area is in worst condition, all the pipeline are leaking water at so many places due to which water cannot reach the village properly,
“We approached the concerned department so many times but they can’t understand the problem of local people in the area, we are facing shortage of drinking from past over a month and we are being forced to use the dirty water from nearby Nala ” he added.
Another local Shabir Ahmad said that employees of the department are not repairing the pipeline, resulting in water not reaching the village properly. He said as there is dry weather, so ponds and other streams cannot fulfill the needs of people, and the potable water supply to the there is not reaching the village as all pipelines are damaged at various places and the department has failed to repair it. He said.
