Awantipora police organises off Half Marathon event ‘Run for Fun’

AWANTIPORA: SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem Sunday flagged off “Half Marathon event, Run for Fun”here.
Around 134 boys/girls of different age groups of Police District Awantipora, District Pulwama, Srinagar, Kulgam, Shopian, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Budgam participated in the event.
The event was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police under its `Civic Action Programme’
The event started at 08:00 am from DPL Crossing village Jawbehera through National Highway upto village Lethpora and then to village Ladhoo Pampore crossing and back.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) South Kashmir Range Anantnag Atul Kumar Goel as Chief Guest of the event distributed cash prizes/mementos and certificates among the first twenty winners of the event.
Speaking on the occasion DIG SKR said that Police is aimed to provide the sports platform for the youth especially of South Kashmir to boost their sports activities and to remain away from the drug abuse and thanked the participants / media persons and all other for joining the event and making the event successful.
Speaking on the sideline of the function SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is on fore front in organizing various sports events as it brings positive energy in the youth, brings sports spirit, competitive spirit and good health .
He further stated that more sports activities shall be organized in the Police District Awantipora in future.
