SRINAGAR: Iqra Football Club Dachigam lifted 1st Invitation Soccer Cup, beating Novelty FC Srinagar 2-0 in the final played at Sports Ground Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday.
As expected both the teams from very beginning played attacking football. In the early minutes of the match Novelty players were more dominant as they consistently made moves to sneak into the defences of Iqra FC Dachigam half however they failed to score the goal in the first half.
As teams went for break score line remained 0-0.
If first half was dominated by Novelty FC Srinagar, Iqra FC Dachigam did not gave an inch in the second half of the game and made several moves on the opposite goalpost to take lead.
In the 57th minute of the game Iqra FC Striker Sameer Ahmad scored first goal to gave his side a lead. Minutes after scoring the goal Sameer doubled the lead for Iqra FC and sealed the deal for his team. Novelty FC tried their best to find the equalizer but tight defence of Iqra FC Dachigam failed their every move.
When the final whistle blew scoreline remain 2-0 in favour of Iqra FC Dachigam .Sameer Ahmad was declared man of the match and man of the tournament.
JKFA President Fayaz Ahmad ,SHO Hajin ,Waseem Ahmad Parra ,Principal Government HSSH Mohammad Shafi Bhat, Secretary DFA zone Hajin Zahid Zubir, DFA Zone Hajin President Asim Aijaz,Waseem Ahmad Parray,Wani Firdous,Rameez Ahmad ,Mir Showkat ,Shabir Ahmad ,Chief Organiser Shahid Muntazir were also present at the prize distribution ceremony.
