415th Urs of Shokh Bab Sahib celebrated in Pampore

Pampore: The Annual Urs of renowned Sufi saint Hazrat Sheikh Sharif -ud-Din popularly known as Shokh Bab Sahib was celebrated on Friday with religious fervour at his shrine at Namblabal Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Scores of devotees thronged the shrine of Shokh Bab Sahib to observe the 415th Urs.
The devotees in large numbers thronged the shrine here in Saffron town Pampore and participated in the special prayers there. The devotees including women, men, children and old were seen paying obeisance and offering special prayers at the shrine.
The Urs is observed every year on this day. A Large number of devotees from different parts of Valley thronged the shrine where they recited Quran and later joined Khatam-e-Sharif, Naatia Majlis and supplications.
Special prayers were held nightlong and people remained awake in the Khanqah-e-Moula Pampore.
The Ulema and Imams threw a detailed light on the life, religious services and teachings and spiritual strength of the revered Islamic scholar and saint who had devoted his whole life to the service to and preaching of Islam.
The people of Saffron town Pampore especially living nearer to the Shokh Bab Sahib shrine use to cook dried vegetables, eggs, cheese and other food stuff except meat on the Urs of Shokh Bab Sahib and invite their relatives, friends on lunch or dinner to keep the tradition of saint alive
