Demanding early online exams, IUST BTech students hold protest

SRINAGAR: The B- Tech students of the 8th semester from the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) on Saturday held a protest demonstration here in Srinagar demanding the university authorities conduct their exams online on an immediate basis.
Scores of the B- tech students from IUST assembled here in press enclave and chanting the slogans ” we want online exams” and ” we want Justice”,
The protesting students said that they are demanding the university authorities to conduct their online exams on the immediate basis, so they can applying for the admission in the M- tech in the Indian and foreign universities as per the academic session.
Zuhaib Farooq, one of the protesting B- Tech students from the final semester said that we are demanding the college authorities to conduct our exams online as soon as possible in this month September.
“We are also going to apply for admission for the M- tech in the Indian as well as the foreign universities. It is also mandatory for the students to complete all the formalities and submit the marks cards and degree certificates to the universities , so the students can get the admission in the M- Tech,” he said.
He said most of our students are living in Kargil and Jammu areas. It is not possible for those students to come back to Kashmir and participate in the offline exams. Due to the pandemic situation, the students did not feel secure to participate in the offline exams, that is why we are demanding the university authorities to conduct online exams in September, so that we can complete admission related formalities in the other universities.
The protesting B- Tech requested the Vice- Chancellor of the IUST to look into the matter and conduct their exams online mode on the immediate basis, so they can apply for admission in the M- tech as per the academic schedule.
