Two held by police for grenade attack in Baramulla

Baramulla: A day after suspected militants hurled a hand grenade towards an army vehicle at Azadgunj area of main town Baramulla in which a girl among seven people were injured, the police on Tuesday said that two people were arrested in this connection.
In a press confrence at SP office Baramulla senior superintendent of police (SSP) along with other senior officers said that on human and technical bases two suspected people were held. They said, on Monday a grenade was lobbed on an army convoy at Azadgunj, Baramulla which missed the intended target and exploded on roadside resulting in injuries to seven passers-byes.
Subsequently, case FIR number 147/2020 U/S 307 IPC,7/27 I.A Act,18,20,39 ULA(P) Act was lodged and investigation was set into motion. During the course of investigation, on the basis of human and technical intelligence, a joint operation was launched by 46 RR, 53 CRPF and Baramulla police in which two suspects namely Fayaz Ahmad Kumar @ Narsimha son of Ghulam Qadir Kumar of Khanpora Baramulla and Aqib Sharif Bhat @ DK son Sharif Din Bhat of Syed Kareem Baramulla were detained and after sustained interrogation they revealed that they lobbed the grenade on insistence of terrorists of LeT outfit.
The aim of lobbing the grenade was to create disturbance and to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Baramulla and to motivate the youth into terrorists ranks and their sympathisers.
The poloce said that both accused are habitual history-sheeters. Fayaz Ahmad Kumar @ Narsimha, has 37 FIRs registered against his name and has been detained under PSA seven times in past. Aqib Sharif Bhat @ DK has 03 FIRs registered against his name.
