PDP leaders out on protest detained by police

SRINAGAR: Police on Thursday detained a group of PDP leaders who were protesting against detention of Kashmiri leaders and civilians, human rights violations, and muzzling of media.
According to the PDP, police stopped a ‘peaceful protest’ and detained several of its leaders.
“Abdul Hameed Kousheen, Abdul Rouf Bhat, Dr Harbaksh Singh, Muhammad Omar, Mushtaq Ahmed, Arif Laigroo were the leaders who were detained and lodged at a police station,” the PDP said, adding, “They were demanding release of political prisoners including the party head Mehbooba Mufti.”
Mehbooba’s daughter Iltija said that the “enforced normalcy through institutionalised repression” in Kashmir stood exposed.
“PDP’s Hamid Kohsheen, Rauf Bhat, Arif, @Harbaksh Dr, Mushtaq & Omar protesting against illegal detention of Kashmiris in & outside J&K have been arrested in Srinagar. Enforced normalcy through institutionalised repression stands exposed. Peaceful protest is also sedition,” Iltija wrote on her mother’s Twitter handle, which she has been using since last year after Mehbooba Mufti was put under detention.
