Tanker supply started to meet water shortage in Doda

DODA: District Development Commissioner, Dr Sagar D Doifode today directed for starting Tanker supply to overcome water shortage due to deficit rainfall in Doda district.
Chairing a meeting of concerned officers here, he took stock of the crisis like situation looming in the district due scanty rainfall. He asked for formulating an effective action plan to make alternate arrangements for the areas facing severe shortage of potable water.
The DDC also reviewed the functioning of Water Supply Schemes, Irrigation schemes, and other related issues cropped up due to deficit rainfall.
It was apprised that the district recorded mere 33.1 mm rainfall in June against average 111mm, 75 mm in the month of July against 163 mm and 63 mm in the month of August against 138 mm.
The DDC also directed Rural Development Department to restore dysfunctional hand pumps in the rural areas on priority to save the people from inconvenience on account of water. He also asked the officials to encourage the people for judicious use of water.
