Government rice supply being repacked for open market, seized in Pattan village, one held

BARAMULLA: Police seized huge quantities of government rice meant for supply to consumers that was being repacked for sale in open market in a Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Official sources said that Pattan police received information that a huge quantity of government supplied rice has been dumped by some people in a house at Kripalgarh village and the people are changing the bags of rice for black marketing in open market.
After receiving information a team of Pattan police raided the site and seized 144 bags of government supplied rice from the house of Mehraj Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Salam Dar of Kripalgarh, they said among the 144 bags 104 bags were converted and filled into the Apple brand white colour bags rest 40 bags were still in government jute bags.
They said a case under FIR number 218/ 2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station Pattan and accused Mehraj Ahmed Dar of Kripalgarh has been arrested along with all 144 bags of government rice.
Further investigation is on.
