SRINAGAR: The nationwide weeklong behavioral change sanitation campaign “Gandagi Mukht Bharat” today began in Jammu and Kashmir with its formal launch in all the districts and blocks of the Union Territory.
The campaign has been started with E-Ratri Chaupal with the Sarpanchs throughout J&K by the District Panchayat Officers under the supervision of concerned Deputy Commissioners.
A plastic collection and segregation campaign led by Sarpanchs was undertaken in all the districts and blocks today with enthusiastic people participation.
All the activities of the Campaign have been planned keeping in view all the Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines prescribed by the government for containment of spread of COVID-19.
During the ongoing week long campaign, special Swachhta initiatives in rural areas to re-enforce the ‘Jan Andolan’ for ‘Swachhta’ and to promote positive behavioral change towards sanitation and hygiene have been scheduled.
At the District level the campaign is being led by the District Panchayat Officers under the supervision of concerned Deputy Commissioners while Director, Rural Sanitation would be leading the campaign at the UT level under the overall supervision of Secretary RDD and PR.
