BUDGAM: The Deputy Commissioner of Budgam on Saturday has ordered the suspension of the medical officer of Primary health Centre (PHC) Narbal and has attached the medical officer at Block Medical officer Beerwah.
An official order issued by the Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza which reads that whereas, a complaint was received on 6th August 2020 with regard to one Doctor Masarat Yaqoob, Medical officer, PHC Narbal that she is not visiting Covid-19 patients in order to examine them and advise the Home Quarantine.
“Whereas, the said Medical officer has been deployed as incharge of the Medical team for Narbal area as per Block Medical Officer Magam’s order No. BMOM/COVID-19/178-82 dated 31-07-2020,” order said.
The order said that whereas, complaint was inquired through concerned Nodal Officer of the Block who has submitted a report in which it has been reported that said Medical Officer is, in fact, not discharging Covid-19 duties on one pretext or other.
“Whereas, it appears that said Medical Officer is committing gross negligence which can put the health of patients at risk and may adversely affect COVID-19 containment efforts,” orders reads.
The order further said that now, therefore, pending enquiry, Doctor Masarat Yaqoob, Medical Officer, PHC Narbal is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect and is attached with Block Medical Officer, Beerwah.
“The Tehsildar (Executive Magistrate 1st class) Beerwah and Block Medical officer Magam shall conduct the inquiry into the conduct of Medical Officer and submitted a detailed report to this office within one week’s time. Any violation of this order shall be dealt under Service Conduct Rules as well as provisions of Disaster Management Act, 2005,” order said.
