Traffic restored on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway after hours following landslides

BARAMULLA: The vehicular movement on Srinagar Muzaffarabad highway near Uri town was restored after being closed for hours due to landslides and shooting stones on Friday morning.
Officials said that the Border Roads Organisation put their men and machinery into the service and cleared the highway after hours long struggle and restored the vehicular movement on this busy highway.
Earlier in the morning landslides and shooting stones hit the road near 72 milestone Mand Singh (NS) Bridge due to which traffic movement was blocked for hours.
Locals said that landslides and shooting stones blocked the highway following heavy rains in the area.
Meanwhile, the local sources said that another road which connects Garkot village with Uri town has also been closed following the landslides at several places. They said that on Friday morning landslides blocked the road after heavy rains in the area.
