Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) President Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari on Friday demanded restoration of statehood and 4G speed internet services in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference at JKAP office in Jammu, Altaf Bukhari said that appealed to the Government of India that “one year is going to complete on August 5 and on this occasion, the Government should restore the Statehood of Jammu and Kashmir.”
The Reorganization Act, he said, was implemented for one year, Bukhari said, adding “It is our right that it should be restored.” He appreciated the administration for dealing with the covid-19 initiating with measures. However, the situation in quarantine centres is not good.
Bukhari appealed to the people to follow protocol defined by the Government to prevent covid spread in Jammu and Kashmir to avoid contraction of the coronavirus as the numbers of infected persons have increased.
He demanded an economic package for the small scale business establishments, rehri-walas, pony walas in Katra Shrine and people associated with the tourism sector, traders, industries, hoteliers, and their employees are facing hard times. Bukhari appealed to the Government to subsidize the 50% fixed cost of these business establishments and waive off electricity bills.
The payment should not be deferred but it should be waived off. I feel people in J&K are not in condition to give interest. The condition of the general public is not good and the irresponsive bureaucracy has made them suffer more with power cuts in Jammu, lack of developmental works, etc. said Bukhari.
Why is there no developmental work in J&K? He questioned and said that Telangana is also suffering from covid-19. However, their government did developmental works like macadamisation of road, did cable laying work, constructed drains, but we fail to understand why developmental works could not be started in J&K, Bukhari expressed surprise. He said that this situation could be suitable for the work because the majority of people remain confined to their homes and do not venture out due to covid measures. Bukhari said that the education system has collapsed and the students are facing problems.
He also demanded restoration of 4G speed internet services in Jammu and Kashmir. From decades of divisive politics being played, he said, the JKAP was formed to fight for the rights of the people of both the regions and cautioned the people against divisive forces trying to divide two regions.
“Youth know what they want. Their preference is development, education and progress of Jammu and Kashmir. We have one slogan that we are one. We do not give emotional slogans,” he said.
