Srinagar: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur today appealed the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chander Murmu to look into the demands of employees of National Health Mission (NHM), who are on the forefront of fight against the deadly pandemic—Covid-19.
Thakur said the government must look into the genuine demands of NHM employees on priority that include job security, meagre wages, and social security.
In an appeal to the LG Murmu, Thakur said that there are 8000 employees working with the NHM since past 13 years and none has been regularized so far. The BJP leader said that since past so many years that no employee working under the ambit of NHM has received any kind of social security benefit even though 32 employees have died in line of duty.
Thakur said despite taking up the issue of leaves with the higher authorities, the file regarding the leave enhancement is with the Chief Secretary for the approval which is pending till date.
He said the employees working with the NHM were promised salary enhancement and the proposal already stands submitted to the government but so far there is no headway. The BJP leader said that NHM employees are on the forefront of Covid-19 battle and even many employees of NHM have tested positive including their family members. Thakur while appealing the LG Murmu and all the advisors and Chief Secretary of J&K said that the demands of NHM employees should be fulfilled in a time bound manner without any further delay.
