Drug peddler arrested in Sopore

38 arrested since March last year, 5 booked under PSA

BARAMULLA: Police on Monday said that they arrested a drug peddler in northern Kashmir’s Sopore.
Police said that during checking at Shangergund police apprehended a notorious drug peddler Nasir Ahmad Khawaja son of late Abdul Samad Khawaja a resident of Seelo Sopore and recovered 143 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus and 12 Bottles of Codeine from him which he was carrying for distribution among youth.
In this connection a case FIR No. 184/2020 U/S 8/22 NDPS Act stands registered in police station Sopore and further investigation is going on.
Police in Sopore have arrested 38 drug peddlers in 22 NDPS cases since March 2019, and five among them have been booked under PSA. Even during covid-19 pandemic Sopore police had continued its mission and has arrested 10 accused in last five months in the jurisdiction of police station Sopore in six NDPS cases and will continue with same dedication till the eradication of this menace from society, police added.
The police said it will continue its war against the drug peddlers/dealers in order to save the young generation from the menace of drug abuse.
